A BOY DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press AssociationThames, Last Night. A lad named Harold Jta.ll, son of a well-known Kopu resident, was drowned yesterday, lie fell off a small jetty near the timber mills into the fasttlowing river, and was never seen again. So far, the body lias not been recovered. A GUARD KILLED. Auckland, February f>. While some railway trucks were being .-hunted at Olaliiiliu 'station at 2 o'clock this morning, Guard \V. Bailey was riding on the eow-catoher, when he cither slipped or lost liis hold and fell. Tito engine and trueks passed over bis 'body and mangled his neck. His back was also brokra, one arm cut oil', and the body terribly battered. Death was probably instantaneous.
