: NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA, lilt. HIOKEY'S MISSION. ~k Received 7, 0.53 a.m. Sydney, February 7. Mr Hiekey, the New Zealand coalmintors' delegate, attended a special meeting of the committee of the management of the Northern Colliery Employfees' Federation at Newcastle. He explained t'hat liis mission to Australia 'was to place the position of the eoal:miners of the Dominion before dlie niin•ing communities here. He hoped a plan ■'would be formulated to bring the Newcastle and New Zealand coalminers' organisations closer together. « The meeting decided that the excutiv and officers of the Federation confer <with Mr. Hiekey during the coming week with a view to arriving at a Scheme for co-ordinate action.
