A MAD WOMAN'S CRIME.
TRIES TO KILL HER CHILDREN AND TO SUICIDE. Received 3, 1.0 a.m. Melbourne, February 2. A woman named Field, living at Parkvale, gave two children (a boy and a girl) a decoction of match-heads. They and she drank the same. She also shot the girl in the head. The latter is out of danger, but the mother and boy are in a critical state. It is supposed to be a case of temporary insanity.
