At tin- Supreme Court, for stealing a brief bag containing JC7O in money from a publican's booth at the Pleasant l'oint race- in December, Joseph ivoburn, a bookmaker's clcrlt, was sentenced to six mouths'. Tile Court was occupied all day on a case of forgery. The defence is a.i alibi. AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Lust Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Ernest Wilson. 28 years of age, convicted on three charges of forgery anil uttering ut New Plymouth, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. John Marjoribanks- Steele, alias Richard Hammond, was also convicted of forgery and was sentenced to two years'. Gustave Solomon, alias C. Thomas, who stale a quantity of copper wire from the Tramway Company's farm, received two years'. Harold Herbert Bressey, for theft from his employer, was sentenced to two years'. George 11. Ennis, a young mun, who had previously been convicted at Napier in 1899 for theft, was up on three charges of false pretences extending between November 20 and December a last. A eeutcuce of two years' imprisonment was passed. George Curson, alias Wilson, a young man, for sentence, on a charge of forgery and uttering, had nothing to say, anil the Judge, remarking that tho prisoner seemed to have been previously convicted of false pretences, sent him ' to gaol for 18 months. Henry Mad- | dock, convicted of breaking and entering, was sentenced to two years'. Jo- ' I seph Dull, charged with theft, received I six months'.
