ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DISOWNING FATALITIES. Ciisboine, January 211. Dora lirillin, aged 22, second daughter of the liev. Crillin, Wcsloyan ministc". was drowned at the school baths ut mid-day. Deceased, who was a splendid swimmer, had only entered the water a few moments when her elder sister observed her in distress. .She made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue her, but got into dillicuities herself. Mrs. (jlrillin also plunged in with her clothes on. The latter two were assisted out by two young men who were attracted by their screams. Auckland, Last Night. A drowning accident happened at Onehunga this afternoon, whereby aa elderly man named Littler lost his life. Tt appears it was his custom to take a small boat and go out fishing in the harbour periodically. He hired a boat this morning, and dropped anchor above the llangere Uridgc, where he was seen felling for a long time. Not far away a man named Jones was fishing from an oil hunch, and he had noticed Littler ,in the dinghy at various times. After attending to his lino for a :mip, he ! looked round and failed to see any trace of the occupant of the other bout. He immediately went alongside and foind the boat was empty. Jones anxiously scanned the surface of the water, and made out what .he took to be the body of the old man, but it sank immediately. The deceased was 70 years of age, anil was an old soldier, having belonged to the both Regiment, lie lived iit Mangere, and leaves a widow and grownup family.
