DEPUTATION' TO HON. (.J. FOWLDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Chrislchurch, Last Night. A deputation from the Society for Promoting the Health of Women and Children waited on the lion. G. fowlds this afternoon in reference to a Government subsidy in aid of the Society's work. .Mrs. Pync slated that it would take about i'.'loO to meet all their engagements for the year, and although they luul a larger membership the.subscriptions were in smaller sums. They had two Plunket nurses at work, visiting some ninety-two eases. The Minister pointed out that the matter was now under the control of the lion. Mr. Buddo, who had taken over tile charge of the Department of Public Health. Last year a vote was taken for the Health oepartme-.it for the purpose of subsidising similar societies iu the four centres, .C2OO being then available. Since that time societies had sprung up in the smaller centres, anil it had been determined to appropriate, say .QOO, and pay subsidies according to tile amount of subscriptions received by each society, tin same as was done in the case of public libraries. The speaker would he pleased t'o bring the {representations of t'iie deputation before his colleague, the Minister for Public Health.
