Barry, in a letter to the Sportsman, regrets that circumstances will not permit his acceptance of Arnst's oiler. He challenges Arust to row over the Put-ney-Mortlake course on the river Thames early in July for C3OU a-side, and will allow Arnst £IOO expenses. News by the last Sydney mail states that the veteran sculler William lieaeli has so far recovered from the iqieration for appendicitis that he may be able to leave Sydney Hospital shortly. The operation was quite successful, but had it liceu delayed even a few weeks it was probable the result would have been very serious.
