Tin; aivkland-otaku .match. AN ill'Alio l/U.WLALNT. liy Telegraph.—Press Association. Diinedin, Last Nighl. At a meeting of the Otngo Cricket Association to-night to discuss the •match between Olago and Auckland), the president (Mr. C. I{, Smith) called on Mr. T. T. Ritchie, manager, and M l ' C. C. Wilson, captain of the Olago team,, for a report. Mr. Ritchie stated that he had given the Auckland Association to understand that the Otago team had not come 8011 miles to play a drawn game. After the toss he anil the captain interviewed the Auckland captain and made, it unite clear that the game was on no account to be a draw. If Auckland wanted a few wickets Olago would not raise objections as 1.0 time, and expected similar treatment from Auckland. They both left believing the. matter to be adjusted, hut Auckland would not allow the match to ..e played out, and insisted on drawing stumps at (i o'clock. The Association evidently did not recognise the captains in the matter. The president could find nothing in the rules referring to a draw, and concluded the framers of the rules had never contemplated such a thing, liy not informing the Auckland Association that they had' authorised the captain and manager to act in the matter of time, they had placed themselves out of court so far as appeal was concerned. Air. Wilson said that, believing that everything would go 'smoothly, his had given way in the blatter of the afternoon adjournment. It was resolved that a rcport'be drawn up by the captain, manager, and president, and that the council be asked to 'take such steps as would be' required j in the way of collecting information.
