WHITELEY MEMORIAL CHURCH
1 The quarterly meeting of the Whiteley Memorial Church was held on TuesUay evening. Rev. T. 0. Brooke provided, and 20 members were present. Reference was made to the bereavement sustained by the minister and family by the death of Mrs. lirookeVV ■mother, and the sympathy of the meetJ ing was ordered to be conveyed to •them.
A vote of sympathy to Mrs. Whitaker and family in their recent sad bereavement was passed, and directed to be forwarded, the vote expressing high ippreciation of the service* rendered to
•Hod and the church by the late Air. AYhitakcr, who had occupied every post it was possible for a layman to till, • The balance sheet showed a slight teliciency on the quarter's, working, but the bazaar effort was the means of reducing the circuit liability by £3O, onefifth of the profits having been devoted to their account.
■ The Sunday School report showed 172 scholars on the Whiteley Memorial* •school roll, the figures being well main'tftined< 1
Mr. 3L Chatterton retired from the senior circuit stewardship, ami Air. .1. W. Boon was elected in his place, with Mr. J. Gibson as junior steward. Mr. C. W. ilooker was elected representative to the Conference, with Mr. •Boon a a substitute.
* It was arranged tliat harvest festiral services be held throughout the circuit o«i February 7th.
The annual roll-call meeting for the election of representatives to quarterly board will be held at the Whiteley Hall* on January 27th.
• The choir wiH be asked to repeat the cantata "Christ and his .soldiers,"' in aid of circuit and trust funds.
• A resolution was passed heartily endorsing the attitude of the new Minister of Railways, lion. .1. A. Millar, in his opposition to increasing Sunday work on the railways.
1 A lengthy discussion took place concerning the need for and the best methof increasing the interest in the work of the church in the country districts.
• Messrs C. Carter and 1\ White were elected representatives from the quarterly uieeting to the young mens' club. ' Votes of thanks were passed to nil who .had helped to make the bazaar a success; to those who provided homes /or delegates to the. recent Synod; and to the Press for tire manner in which the Synod proceedings had been reported.
