A SUGGESTED AMENDMENT. By Tclcgranh.- Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A communication regarding the advisability of 1111 amendment of the existing Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act, whereby the reduction clause shall he repealed, was received by the Hutt County Council to-day from the Horowhcnuii County Council. It proposes that in any electorate where no-license is carried, the sale and control of sneh liquors may liecome vested in either the whole of the local bodies within the electorate or a board elected by the people upon a petition signed li.v the same majority that carried no-license ami endorsed by the majority of the councils; tire net proceeds, after providing for the relief of poverty, to be used in providing mental and physical recreation for the people of the electorate. The Horowhemin body desired to call a meeting for the purpose at Palnierston North, but the llutt Council decided to take 110 action in the matter.
