NORTHERN ASSOCIATION'S TOURNAMENT. By Telegraph.- Press Association. Napier, Last Night. ( The annual meeting of the Northern Bowling Association was opened to-day on the green< of the Napier and Greeiimcadows Clubs. The weather was fine, but dull and cold for the time of the

| J ear. The greens were in good order, ami tlie preparations generally were | complete. Mr. J. (.'. McVay, president ot llu Association and of the Napier Howling Club, declared the tournament open. Speaking at the Napier green in the presence of a full muster of players, he said he hoped tlie tournament would be as successful as those which had preceded it, and he believed they would witness some first-class plav. Three rounds were plaved to-d'av in each section. Following'are the positions of the clubs, at the end of to-day's play, exclusive of bves:
