■ At a factory at Nukaka, llawke's Bay, milk-supplying shareholders are only getting i '/»it per lb, while suppliers who are not shareholders get 7d. Taranaki fanners have a 10l to be thankful for. The hist lot of butter sent from the Huiakaina Dairy Factory to the Moluroa. Freezing Works for shipment Home was graded \)o% points, with the remark "choice line" attached The last butter from the Makahu Factory was graded 05 points, the remark "choice line" being also attached to this consignment. The foregoing serves to show that the smaller factories are, in point of quality of | their product, quite capable of "keeping their end up" amongst factories with a larger output. —Post. Mr. D. Cuddie (Chief Dairy Commissioner of New Zealand), and Messrs. J Sawyers and W. Grant (Chief Instructors/! l>«id a visit to the Opunake district lately. They visited the cheese factories at Pungarchu and lUhotu, and the butter factories at Opmmke, Pihiuna and Oaonui. They expressed themselves well satisfied with the quality of the outputs and the upkeep of the different factories, and found nothing to warrant any of them remaining to give instruction. Mr, Cuddie advises butter factories to instal combined churns and butter-workers, as a means of increasing the ovcr-rini by about 4 per cent. He is of opinion that the companies which have consigned this year will still be able to get good prices for their butter, judging from what he would gather on the London market last year.—.Times.
