OBITUARY.
■MR. KKJIXALD UAYLEI". General regret is expressed through* *out this district at the somewhat unexpected death of Mr .Reginald Bayley, who passed away yesterday morning. For some years Mr Bayley had been a most obliging and eapajble member of the staff of the Deeds and Stamps Department in New Plymouth, and was also at one time in the Wellington office. He was also a familiar figure on the Ngatwln golf links, one of the earliest members of the local club, and an enthusiastic devotee of the game. Mr. Bayley was also for some years a member of the New Plymouth Bowling Club. .Mr. Baylev was the son of the Rev. George Bayley, M.A., and came out from Home with his parents in 1850. They settled at Onmta, hut upon the outbreak of hostilities with the natives they went to Australia. Mr. Reginald Bayley remained here, and, though only a boy at the time, took his share of the fighting, being present at the Rattle of Waireka in 1860. Deceased was twice captain of the Taranaki Rides.
The president of the Veterans' Association (Captain A. Standi?)}}, desire* us to state that, though the funeral will be of a semi-private character, he hop™ the veterans will attend as private citizens to pay a last tribute of respect to a comrade who fought with them at Waireka.

Captain Holland Harrison. a brother, visited Xew Zealand a 1 ihe time of the Parihaka disturbance, .when H.M.S. KmeraM brought Sir Arthur Cordon over from .Sydney. Captain Harrison received a handsome pension from the Admiralty for his fuel-saving devices aud other engine-room improvement*. first applied to H.M.VS. Minotaur. —Advocate.
