IS NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney,' January 4. Only on live other occasions in fifty veurs has Sydney experienced heat lite that of yesterday. The heat at BOurke was the greatest for thirty years.

Received 4, 11.35 p.m. 1 Sydney, January 4. '■ The hot weather bUJ prevails in tim country. A great fire threatened Nowra. The townspeople turned out and succeeded in saving the town, but the rounlry round alrout was devastated.
