The ninth and linal round of the chcs>. [ championship contest resulted as folI lows:—Edwards v. Helling—Edwards re- | signed at move -14, and the win gave Kelling the championship. Forsyth v. Mason—Forsyth resigned on the 20th move. Davies v. Dodds—Dodds won on the 2rd move. Fox v. Criersou—Fox resigned on the 48th move. Kelling, of the Wellington Workingmen's Club, won the championship and ■C2O, with six wins and two draws; Baraes, of the same Club, secured second place and ,ClO with live wins, one draw and two losses; Davies gained third place and .Co, with four wins, two draws and two loses; and Mason fourth position and :C3 with four wins, one draw and three losses. Other competitors finished as follows:—Edwards, four wins and four losses; Crierson three wins, one draw and four losses; Dodds, three wins and five losses; Forsyth, two wins, one draw and live losses; Fox, one win and seven losses.
