THE GARROTER'S VICTIM.
STILL UNIDENTIFIED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A great many people have viewed the body of the man murderer! at Courtenav Place on Saturday night: to see if th ,y could identify him. A visitor from Auckland says he remembers the deceased well, though he does not know the unfortunate man's name. He says the deceased was a porter and rouseabout at the Hotel Mctropole, Kotorua, in September or October. The Auckland visitor says he saw the deceased in Auckland a little the worse for liquor. The man recognised him, and .endeavored to borrow money, but the request was received. The victim of the garrotcrs, according to this source of information, was of neat appearance, evidently an old sailor. He was apparently a man of some education, and had come down in the world. The police have recorded all the information that the Auckland visitor could give, and will make enquiries. The body will be on view for the purposes of identification for another day or so.
