AMUSEMENTS.

■» ' . MONTGOMERY'S ENTERTAINERS. Prubably the most popular picture en- • tertainer in regular business in .Xew Zealand at present is Mr. Montgomery, whose enterprise now embraces tiiree , distinct companies. To maintain a wellearned reputation, naturally everything , second-rate in the picture line espeeial- ! ly must be eschewed, and that Mout- , gomcrv's Entertainers show only that which is highest in the cinematograph art was quickly demonstrated at tile entertainments giveu on Christmas and - Boxing nights at the Theatre Royal. Despite tli« strong counter-attractions of the holidays, good business was done to delighted audiences, whose apprecia- ■ tion of the wide range of subjects treat- . vd uas markedly shown. With scarcely , a exception, the pictures, alike the mov- ; iug and the beautiful views illustrating [ the ballads, were new to New I'ly- _ mouth audiences. Indeed, the company , claims to be able to play for a week , without repeating a single'nmuber. Educational and comic views were judiciously interspersed. Diversity was added to the programme by Wilson and Fisher, the musical sketch artists, whose turn is a deservedly popular one. \ i TO-NIGHT. To-night the .management nrouiiistesl another change of pragrominc at the people's popular prices, viz.. 2s, ls and (id, where there should be a record attendance. Included in the new pictures is an exceptionally line picture, colored throughout, representing the gorgeously staged pantomime, "Ali Balm and the Forty Thieves," as produced at the Drury Lane Theatre, London. "A trip through Ceylon" (scenic), "The Magic Album" (spectacular colored), "The Armchair, "Freebooters" and "The Aspirator'' (comic) are chiefly mentioned as being exceptionally good subjects. The whole programme and the cheap ■ prices all'ord an excellent opportunity to wind up the day's- outing in a congenial manner.
