CATTLE-STEALING. By Telegraph.— Presj Association. Napier, Monday. Samuel Ueswick pleaded guilty at'ino Court to-day to a charge ol stealing DO head of cattle, of a value of £4oli, the property of Richard Keene and James Reid. ilie accused, who was appointed manage); of the Runanga station during the owners' absence in England, sold the cattle to butchers. Napier, Last Night. William Robinson was charged with on November 13th receiving from Samuel Ueswick ten head of cattle, knowing them to have been stolen. Sub-Inspect-or Dwycr applied for a remand, stating that accused had only been arrested at the luncheon adjournment of the Court. Mr. Ci'esswell, who appeared for accused, said Robinson was a well-known settler and had resided in Hawke's Bay for 40 years. He had recently sold out of the Argyll bVttloimmt and removed Jiis stock to Tauranga, employing a man named Boult as his drover. That was how the trouble had arisen. Accused was remanded on bail. William Boult was charged with on December 15th at Runanga receiving from Samuel Ueswick 44 head of cattle, valued at C 1 OS, the properly of Richard Keene and James lleid. knowing them to have been stolen. ' Accused, wlm pleaded not guilty, was committed for trial, William Brewer, charged with stealing 44 bead of cattle from Runanga statioi" was remanded till to-morrow. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Wellington, Last Night. John Cecil, a foreigner, to-day pleaded guilty lo using obscene language ou Thormlon Quay recently. Station-Scr»t. Darby said that the- case was so lmd that people crossed the Quay to pet beyond earshot. "As bad a ease as 1 ever heard." exclaimed Dr. McArthur, S.M., alter hearing the evidence.
