A WOMAN'S DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Night. The inquest on Mrs. Gertrude Agnes Good, who died from the ell'ects of strychnine poisoning on Wednesday, was ; resumed to-day. At the previous sitting ! Robert Good, husband of deceased, lia.i j deposed to deceased telling him she jiad i taken strychnine after they had had a quarrel, which happened frequently, further evidence of domestic uniiappiness was given, and fetters, written by deceased to a relative, were read in which she alleged that she had been unkindly treated by her husband. The enquiry was further adjourned. YOUNG -MAN DROWNED. Napier, Monday. Information has been received of a drowning accident at llangaroa, Poverty Bay. Cecil Bcntham, aged 20, son of Robinson Benthain, a well-known mercer of Dunedin, got out of his depth whilst bathing and was drowned before his companion could reach hiin. The body has been recovered. Demised was a promising youth. Me was learning sheep-fanning at llangaroa station.
Tllli WAIT Alt A DROWNING I FATALITY. In connection with the Waitara drowning fatality on Sunday it appears that the victim, Lewis Rhodes, was accompanied by a young man named Crowley. Neither could swim. Deceased lost control of his horses and disappeared, when only a few yards from the. shore. Mr. Jas. Mitchell was on tlve bank, but lie also was powerless to render any aid. The body was found about 3 a.m. yesterday, after dragging operations had been carried on for several hours. SUDDEN DEATH AT NGAIRE. A painfully sudden death occurred at Ngaire on Sunday evening,'. Mrs. McDonald, wife of Mr. J. McDonald, a well-known settler, being found dead by the roadside. The family had gone to church and on returning found Mrs. McDonald ont. Presuming she had gone to visit a neighbor enquiries were made but she could not be found, and accordingly a search mis made, and the deceased lady was found lying on the 1 roadside by her son-in-law'. The cause ■ of death was supposed to be heart dis- ■ ease, but a formal inquest may be ne--1 enssary. The deceased leaves a husband ■ and grown-up family. She was well- ' known and highly-rcspected in the dis- • tiiet, in which she had resided for a i long period.—Argus.
