ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SODDEN DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. CliristchurcU, Saturday Night. Alice Gibson, 12 years of age, died suddenly in the street yesterday evening on her way home from the house of friend she had been visiting. At the inquest to-day, Mary ,Sophia Box stated that deceased left h'er place'anont dusk, and witness watched her running home for some distance. Deceased was not a robust child, but appeared to bo ill Her usual health. She was raining very quickly. Dr. Fcmvick, who made a post mortem examination, was of opinion that death was due to sudden cardiac failure of ft diseased heart, associated with ofedema of the lungs. The Coroner brought in a verdict in accord- | a nee with the medical testimony.
A TIMELY RESCUE. Wangamii, Last Night. A narrow escape, from drowning occurred on CastleclilT bench on Saturday afternoon. A young man named V. Brown got out of his depth, and was disappearing for the third time when a companion named E. V. Spear rescued him.
