FITZROY SCHOOL.
The Fitzroy School held its "brcak-iiig-up" concert on Thursday evening. There was a crowded house. The principal portion of the programme comprised the production by the pupils of a little play, "The Magic Hook," which showed its magical properties by landing a splendid gurnard. The part of the Princess was well interpreted by Helen Outfield, that of the Emperor by Donald McConnell, while Lin Pott and Bernard Linn made excellent princes. The others in the caste of characters were—The Gurnard, Harry West; Princess Bipple-on-the-Water, Constance Thomas; Princess Pearl, Gladys Oxenham; Councillors Ashley Francis and Chudlcight Kirton; Japanese maidens, Mary Lee, Andrina Lee, Dorothy Taunton, Molly McConnell, Eva Haskell; Chinese boys, Charles Ward and Keith Jackson; Executioner, Ronald Mcintosh. Mr. J. Tisch, chairman of the School Committee, presented prizes to tho following:— Standard Vll.—Dorothy Wliilaker 1, Helen Cutlield 2; general progress, Co'istance Thomas.
Standard Vl.—Harry West 1, Donald McConncll ,2j neat exercise book, Maul Colson; attendance, Beatrice Sainsbury. Standard V.—lsabel Whitaker 1, JSvu Haskell 2; general progress, Molly McCouncil. Standard IV.—Allan Wood 1," Charles Ward 2; general progress, Eileen Cathro. Standard 111—Eose West 1, Keith Jackson 2; general progress, Eva Guscott; attendance, Lincoln Francis and Norman Itibby. Standard ll.—Harold Ardern. 1, Ha Francis 2; general progress, Eonald Mcintosh; attendance, Violet Bellringer and Alfred Fetch.
Standard I.—Esben Mortensen 1, Clarice Linn 2; attendance, Norman Ward, J Primer class.—Attendance: Walter Sturmey, Eric Ardern, Frances Cosbrook. Sewing. Senior division, Andrinu Lee (Mrs. F. C. Foote's prize); junior, Frances Coombes (Mrs. Johnson's prize). Flower Wardens. Helen Outfield, Dorothy Wliitaker, Lois Cutfield, Annie Fetch (the chairman's prizes), A very pleasing feature of the entertainment wa.s the presentation by Major Sundford of the Mayor's prize to Victor Ounsoii for highest score at class-firing. About fifty of the junior division who had not received prizes were .each given a present from the Christmas tree.
It was announced that Mr. Weller had intimated his intention to give a prize to Dorothy Whitaker for essaywriting.
