THE LICENSING POLL.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. The hearing of the petition against the Wellington Suburbs licensing poll has been adjourned till January 20. The Masterton petition will be held on Jan. uary 11 and the Hutt petition on January 14.

Auckland, Friday. A special Court under the Licensing I Act sat this morning to deal with tho petition lodged against the validity of the Eden local option poll. Mr. Cotter, solicitor, stated he would oiler no evidence in support of the petition. The Court, in the absence of proof, decided to dismiss the petition, and affirmed that no-license was carried in Eden. Of the £2O deposited with the petition, the Court allotted ten guineas to respondents, £2 5s Court costs, and declared the balance forfeited to the Crown.
