A IIUSBAND'iS STOKY. By Telegraph.—Prcaa Assoeiation. Nelson, Last Night. An inquest on the body of Gertrude Agnes Good, wife of lloberl Good, a ( pork butcher, who committed suicide yesterday l>y taking strvclmine was < opened to-day. The medical evidence j showed that death was caused by , strychnine poisoning. Good said his j wife was 2li years old a'iid had previously < had one child, now fourteen months old. She assisted him in his shop and went there before eight o'clock. On the morning of hot death he left her in charge while he went out, and when he returned he complained about her losing a bill aad they had some words. Doceased left the shop and went home. Witness caught her up on the road and asked her to return, and they went home together, lie asked her to get something for him to eat and he left the house for a few minutes. On returning he found her sitting 011 the bed. She said she had taken a bottl", pointing to a bottle of strychnine, ami asked him not to leave her. lie went to get a neighbor and afterwards went for a doctor. She died a few minutes after the hitter's arrival. Further examined, Good said they often had rows, lie denied that he threw the scales at his wife in the shop on Wednesday morning, and that she said she would do something on the way home. He had often sworn at drecas- 1 ed, but had never handled her roughly. Evidence was also given by a shop assistant, who said he had heard 110 swearing between Good and deceased on Wednesday morning, although they ' sometimes had words. ' The jury asked for an adjournment I to enable further evidence to be taken, 1 and the inquest was adjourned accord--1 ingly until Monday.
