THE SCARLET TROI'BADOI'RS. Perhups no better recommendation as to tlio performances given by Mr Kd'wanl Uranseombe's "Scarlet Troubadours" who are making a return visit to New Plymouth, at the Theatre 'Royal on Saturday evening next, than quote from the New Zealand Herald who in criticising a recent performance given in Auckland says :—" Mr Edward rSranscoinbe is properly famous in New Zealand as the. organiser of that, band of uncommonly charming singers ''The Westminister lilce and Concert Party'' and it is but a simple statement of fact to say that his name is associated in the minds of music lovers with nothing but musical talent of the finest quality. The impression eroatcd by the " Scarlet Troubadours" on its first appearance, in Auckland last night, must have exceeded the expectations of the most sanguine, the spontaneous outburst of delighted appreciation clearly indicated the unstinted approbation of the large audience which greeted them. These eight cultured musicians form a company of talented artists whose superior as a combination has not before been heard in Auckland.'' ELECTRIC LIGHT CONCERT. At the variety entertainment which is to lie held in the Recreation Sports Ground on Wednesday evening ,')oth inst., there will be -several novelties introduced. The idea of running cycle races at night seems to be a good one and will undoubtedly bo much appreciated by the riders. The nominations for these events close with Mr A. George on Saturday, 2tith inst. The light-rope walking by the Blondonian Bros, is said to be a wonderful performance and should not he missed on any account. These gentlemen, whose reputation has preceded them, have been specially engaged for the Ninas, fcslitivitk's.' Those clever acrobats Ihe l'eddy Brothers, will also give a couple of specially prepared items, and Mr. Lints, whose reputation as a gymnastic instructor is to well known to need comment, will contribute several items with the assistance of his pupils. There will also be musical items, songs and choruses and a sandfly shuffle by Hi" notable Bombast Boh, the world's enteri taiuer.
