Leather anil basils.—Market steady; prices uncluinged. Rabbits.—'Market dull. Prices for young sorts have declined by sixpence. Frozen meat.—Mutton: Canterbury licavy 39-Kid, North Island 3'/«d. best brands 3%d, other sorts unchanged. Lamb and beef prices unchanged. River Plate mutton, heavy 3 3-MM, light 3 5-llid. River Plate beef unchanged. LONDON WOOL SALES. London, December 13. The wool sales closed with a very firm demand yesterday. Competition was more brisk than on Friday. The average prices for merinos at these sales were 5 per cent, above those at the October sales; prices for American sorts were 10 per cent, higher; for good scoured wool 5 to 7'/. per cent, higher; for faulties IO per cent, higher; for fine, good to medium, crosshreds 15 to 20 per t ent. higher; for coarse 10 per cent, higher. Slipes were in keen demand at 10 »er cent, advance.
During the sales 67,500 bales were sold for the Home market, 85,000 bales for the Continent, and lo,floo for America, while 10.000. "were held over.

Frozen meat.—There lias been no alteration in tile mutton market since last week. The. lamb market is weak, with dull sale for all Itrands. Australian stocks are accumulating. Australian is quoted at 4'Zjd. Xo diange'has recurred in the prices of New Zealand lamb. Supplies of American chilled beef are small. Prices have declined. Xew Zealand hind quarters are quoted at forequarters 3*/ s d. Butter.—The market U firm, with improved demand. Following are current quotation*:—Choicest New Zealand, lids; Australian, 107s; Danish, 1,1 (is: Argentine (of which supplies are increasing) HH>s.
Cheese.—The market, is quiet but steady. The Turakina's shipment arrived in good condition. The result of raising the temperature in the cold storage from 40-50deg. to .M-OUdeg. wa» satisfactory, the cheese being well matured and ready for sale. Xew Zealand makes are quoted at 58s.
