DISTRICT NEWS.

WAITARA ROAD. The annual concert of the Huirangi School took place in the hall on Tuesday last, the hall being tilled t,o the, doors. A long aad varied programmes was given by the scholars and local talent, and was much appreciated by Urn audience, as was shown by the applause that greeted the various items. The programme was as follows:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Honnor; song, "Union Jack," scholars; recitation, "Boyi' rights," Larry Palmer; song, Mrs.'jloby; dialogue, "Wee Bobby Barefoot," F. Smith and S, Loveridge; song, "Won't you buy my pretty flowers?" scholars; recitation, "A Soldier Hoy's Motto," Harold Herrick; part song, "Where au ou going my pretty maid?" A. and * F. Smith; instrumental duct, Misses J.' Bennett and N. Vales; recitation) "The execution of Montrose," James Frederickson; tableau. "The Sleeping Beauty," by nine scholars. (This was exceedingly well staged and was loudly applauded and re-demanded); song,' Mr. Anio* Taylor; Maypole da;iee, scholars; instrumental duet, Mr and Miss Ilonnor; song, "Three young maids of Lee," scholars (exceedingly well done); recitation, "I hate the pants that mother makes," Dick Wall; song, Mrs. Hobv; tableau, "Faith, Hope and Charitv,' scholars; song, "Our Cricket Club,' scholars; song, "Nursery Rhymes," scholars; song, "Stay in your own backyard," scholars; song, sir. Bert Wells; song, "The death of ('oek Robin," scholars; recitation, "My Red Frock," Kathleen Giddy; dialogue, "Twelfth Night," by eight scholars, the different parts being well taken and well received by th:- audience; flag inarch, children. The

singing of "God Save the King" brought one of tin? most successful concerts over held in the district to a close. The i on-eri reflected great credit on Misses Riley and Andrews for the perfect manner in which the whole affair was put upon the stage. Miss Giddy presided at tile piano in her usual excellent style, the evening finishing up with" supper and a dance.
