MUNICIPAL BORROWING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercnrgill, Lust Night. The ratepayers of Invercargill at a poll to-day carried by 170 to 43 a proposal to borrow £IO,OOO in eoimccttion with the enlargement of the municipal abattoirs.

ODDEELLOWSHIP. Dunedin, East Night. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations o' the Oddfellows of the Otago district are at present being held in Dunedin. The opening ceremony, which took place in the Harrison Ualul to-night, was a banquet at which speeches were made showing the progress of the Order in Otago. MOTORIST PAYS COMPENSATION

Wellington, December 4. On April 5 last Murdoch CUllics a telegraph operator, was killed while cycling on the Hutt Road, as the result of a collision with a motor car owned by John Onring Johnston and driven by his servant.
