NEWS FltOM THE XIMRUD. 13y Telegraph.-Press Association. Christelimcii, December 4. The Antarctic relief ship Ximrod took with her several homing pigeons front the Lytlclton Times loft, line returned yesterday. 11 was sent away when the vessel was ninety miles out at sea. At daylight this morning the second bird arrived. It was despatched from the! , steamer yesterday in latitude 4(i south, . longitude 172.;! east. The message. ' which the bird curried reads: "Fine weather, light winds continued since: J leaving; all well; satisfactory progress is being made. The ship's company appreciates the kindness of the send-off. — F. P. Kvans, master." The steamer, when the message was despatched, was :l about ten miles south of Dunedin and '< eighty miles off shore.
