Lash won the tow and elected to bat, Weston and Williams opening to the bowling of Gudgeon and Crwnbie Runs came at a good rate, but with the score at 20 Williams had the misfortune to play one of Crombie's balls on to his wicket. Elliott, who followed, commenced by getting a couple of singles to leg, but soon lost Weston, who had hard luck in being given out to a doubtful catch at the wickets. Weston batted very nicely for his 16, beine particularly severe on leg stuff. €oppen did not last long, being bowled by Croinbie with a splendid ball, llasell now came in, and with Elliott, who had boon batting slowly, started to knock th.' bowling about. With the score at 56 Elliott was caught in the slips ajid made way, for Colvile, who signified his appearance by running a few short runs. Hasell was caught .by Gudgeon at 81, after having compiled an attractive 29. With Lash in, Colvile started to hit, a:id soon had 29 opposite his name, when Gault caught him iu magnificent styje. Ingram went to the wickets, but did not stay long, being bowled by Gudgeon, after having received a nasty knock on the face from the bowler's previous ball. Seven for 107. Arden started confidently, scoring a couple of singles off Gudgeon, but the bowler had not long to wait before getting his wicket. Lash was run out in attempting a risky run. Nine for 110. Braund and Trice added 15 for the last wicket, but with the score at 131 Braund was. run out. Inglewood's bowling and fielding was only fair. Gudgeon, with four for 37, secured ilie best average.
Inglewood started well, FuUan and K. Xicholls putting on 21 for the first «-i(ket before Pullan was caught and bowled by Elliott. Inman started by hitting Braund away for three, and with the score at 30 Colvile went on to bowl in place of Braund. The change was successful, Lash brilliantly catching Inman off Colvile with the score at 35. Crombie was next batsman, and after starting slowly, hit Colvile away for a couple of fours. Colvile had his revenge in his next over by getting Crombie caught at the wicket by, Coppen. ftud-. geon soon received his quietus by being bowled by Bnumd. Four for 05." Meantime Kit-holla had been keeping his end up by very patient cricket, but with his. score at 17 Braund got one past liim.* Fiv« for 72. Clegg anl Billing were now associated, but the -partnership did not last long, Arden disposing of Billing by a nice cateli olt Braund. Six for 78. Clegg, who had been batting well, was bowled by Colvile with a grand ball. Sutherland made 10 and Matthews,3, lmt Thomson hit out, scoring 20, and with Gault remained uneonquered at the end of the d ly's play, when the score stood at nine wickets for 113.
