PROPOSED EXPEDITION'. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Niglit. Arrangements are now being made in connection Villi a visit of scicutilic men to the Chiilhiim 1.-lan is in February next. Mr. A. Hamilton, of Wellington, made this proposal lo Ihe Wellington Philosophical Society during the session of the. New Ken In ml Institute some months ago. The council of the Institute communicated with other societies asking their co-operation in an expedition upon certain lines. February lias been selected as tlie most suitable month, as the service of the steamer trading to ] the liroup is them more frequent. Final arrangements have not been made, as it has not yet been intimated who will be able to take part in the "expedition. The president of the Philosophical Society (Professor 11, If. Ivirk) has communicated with the presidents of other societies, ascertaining what members will be able to take part in the expedition, and replies are still coming in. In this connection it may be stated that arrangements have also been made for a party of Christehurch scientists to visit the West Coast Sounds in January, and they ivill return in time to ' join the Chatham Islands party.
