Tlic Grind Jury found lio bill i;i the indictment against David Cochrane, secretary of the I'rczen .Meat Company, who was charged tvith having committed perjury in the civil action brought h.y Watson Bros, and Co. for the value of sheep shipped by tile Turakina without plaintiffs' instructions. Jnvercargill, Last Night. At tbe 'Supreme Court thi> afternoon, the case in which Reginald Way, date secretary of the Southland Charitable 1 Aid Board, was charged with having stolen two sums of £137 7s lUd and £8 14s lid, and with having fraudulently omitted to make credit for these sums in his c a9h-book, was heard. Tlic jury retired at 0.33 p.m., and were locked tip for the full time allowed, and disagreed. A new trial will take plate to-morrow.
WELLINGTON' SESSIONS. Wellington, Ijiist Night. John Uiitler, a wharf laborer, was tried tin 1 tliii'it time at (in- Supreme Court to-ihiv, charged witli lutviay assaulted another \vlmrf l.i'uorer turned Anton Larsen. He was found guilty, and sentence was deferral. Walter A. Lindsay was charged with indecently assaulting a .Maori lad. The jury failed to agree. Prison.-v will \>e tried again.
AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, in the case of the .second trial of William Thomas (Jibson, charged willi having improper relations with bis wife's cousin, a girl under the age of sixteen years, at Waihi, the jury, after a hearing extending over two days, found a verdict of not guilty.
