Ji. NOTED JERSEY HERD. Without doubt the most noted Jersey lierd in New Zealand was that of Messrs. Griffiths and Cornwall, which was disposed of by auction last week. Not the least remarkable feature about this herd, whkli supplied the diuinpion milking cow of the Domi/iiou, was its Temarkable immunity from serious affection and trouble at calving time. This has not been claimed as being a trait peculiar to the Jersey breed o cattte, but to the owners of the herd, who by dint of care and proper treatment at the most critical periods of the cow's life, brought about the result. The principal reason is givw by Jlc f sl3 - Griffiths and Cornwall w the sale v.ata logue, where cd testimonial;— Ihe health of t lierd may to a certain extent be accounted for by the fact that at calung time every cow or heifer is treated with -a nacket of Sykes'a Drench, and later, before being put to the bull, they are treated with Sykes's Abortion Powders, the result being that cows clean aiccly at calvin" and invariably hold to tnc firet service of the bull, and abort,on is absolutely unknown in the herd.
