A i-oncert Wily held last night in the Weal- End School Hall, for the purposi of obtaining funds for the annua prizes, 'i'lie building, which is adjnlr ably suited for such entertainments, hn< been fitted with t'Jie electric light, a;u i was well filled. A good vocal pro grii'imie was submitted, most of the items receiving encores. Miss Ward's | number, "Sunshine and Rain," was splendid. She. is possessed of a very fine mezzo-soprano voice, which gav'e evidence of careful training. Mr. R. Lee rendered a ilute solo, "Graceful Dance, in brilliant style, lie is a flautist of "io mean order and produces a line rici tone, while his execution was also good. Messrs. Howell and Peddle contribute!! in no small wav to the programme, appearing three times, in tumbling anil chair-balancing feats which would have done, credit to any professional stagi-. Vocal items were also contributed by Misses Fenton aad M. Clark, Messrs. Haslam. and Woodanl. In the quartettes rendered by Misses Bncknmn ail l lilaek and Messrs. Jennings and Guy the voices did not blend, and there was a want of precision. Miss Doinbey and Mr. E. Lee contributed recitations. The accompaniments were played by Misses Clark and Fenton and Mr. E. A. Goiding.
