London, November 29. The British Chamber of Commerce at Paris, owing to the success of its Canadian section, is forming a section of Australian members.
ESTIMATE OF THE LUsS ENTAILED. Melbourne, Monday. Mr. Scott, Secretary of the Centr*l Postal Administration, estimates that the penny cable scheme would entail an annual loss of £128,730. Before th# necessary incomes from penny cables could be attained it would be necessary, he says, to create additional traffic to the extent of fifteen million words a year solely for the Pacific cable. The present yearly traffic between the United Kingdom and Australasia, by both routes is twenty-five million words.

MAIL TRAIN STUCK OP. 6t. Petersburg, November 29. A band of robbers attacked the Siberian mail train on the Trans-Baikal line. After a fight with the eseort, during which three of the robbers were killed, the rest escaped with 250,000 roubles.
