Tho Central Assembly of the Intel* national Institute of Agriculture it i meeting a t Rome, Signer Tittoni, Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs, presiding. In the course of his inaugural address, Signor Tittoai described the Assembly as ''the first session of the Parliament of the world." Sir. Taverncr, representing Victoria, expressed disappointment over the proposed organisation, The Institute, he said, was too Continental in character and not sufficiently imbued with the methods and customs of the English countries interested in pastoral, agricultural, and dairying industries, though their trade and commercial standing entitled tliein to recognition. He urged the Institute to render practical aid to the producers, enabling them to protect their interests.

King Emmanuel gave audience to the delegates.
