L. A. XOLAX'S REPORT. We held our monthly sale of Hides, etc., on Wednesday, November 25th. A good catalogue, was submitted to a full complement of buyers, and competition was keen right through, particularly in calfskins—at one time the latter reaching a price which, as far as we know, never surpassed in Xew Zealand, viz. B%d. Hides showed an advance on last month's quotations, particularly in light anil medium sorts, while heavies were very linn at last niu.i.ii', rates. Full woolled skins were not represented in large quantity, those offered were on a par with Southern quotations, and we sold every line offered. Tallow held 1 about last month's rates. We quote: Hides—Cow butchers light i% to 4%, medium 4% to 4%, heavy 4%, no extra heavy offering. Ox, butchers light 4% to o'/ s , medium 5% to tiy K , (no stout offering). Settlers cow sound 3% to V/.. ox 4% to 4%. cut and slippv 3% to 3%. Calfskins—Best 8% to 8%, good J% to "'/i, 2nd grade <>%, heavy 8%, cut o'/s. slippy 4%. yearlings 4% to'.i%. slinks lOd. each.

Young, Hobbs and Co. report:—On Tuesday 24th. we held ouf usual monthly sale of the above produce. We had a full catalogue of all classes except tallow, of which wc only handled two casks. Buyers were in atendauee iron) all parts of the Dominion. Producers may continually rely upon the best competition for all classes of above produce. Wool showed a rise of 15 to 20 per cent for all classes of good wool, inferior lots improving fully 7 ■/& to 10 per cent above recent sales. Sheepskins advanced 5 to 10 per cent, while hides, calf skius and tallow maintained full recent rates.

Although this .sharp rise in wool looks permanent, we think all farmers with small- clips would act wisely in submitting their wool at the local sales before shipping nn to l/>ndon. We have enquiries from representatives of Home manufacturers, who having secured portion of their employers' requirements wish to consign direct to the port nearest the manufacturing centre.
