While schooling Sedgemoor at Wanganui recently, Geo. Laing broke his collarbone and injured several ribs.
Loehbnhie and Tui Cukobau are a pair of St. Andrew's Handicap candidates who won races at the recent A.R.C. spring meeting. The former won the ■Cheltenham Handicap, one mile and a quarter, in 2min 9 3-ssec., carrying 8.8, and also ran second to Te Aroha in the Ascot Handicap under the steadier of 0.2. Tui Cakobau was responsible for New Zealand record time When the Spring Handicap came his way in lmin 30 3-ssce.
Slaniapoto was catalogued as by Cuirassier—Lady Fmmcline t»t tile Tarnnaki Show. Tin- Metropolitan winner is liy .Smilt—Lady Fisher. Carinania ran consistently at the Auckland spring meeting, finishing up with a win in the Gordon Handicap, and is on the improve. The New Zealand-bred gelding Soultline, who "won several races in 'Stralia, was well sold at a cool "thou" guineas. In future lie will he trained at Fleminptoa by 11. Bradfi'eld. Hautapu is out on his own amongst hurdlers running about Auckland now I and is giving his opponents from 117 to 4!)lb» in the Tiri Hurdles at the North Shore to-day.
A. Rhodes takes Golden Eagle and llaeremai and R. Barlow Sir Artegal to •Feilding this morning. The trio are in good nick and with ordinary luck should pay their way shortly. j. Thacker is not taking Timothy to Feililing, but the St. Paul gelding'will sport silk at Wailara on Thursday. The usual budget of turf topics appeals in today's supplement.
