Trade is verv disappointing. I here being only a liiiiid-io-iiiuiith demand. Current quotations:—Dutch inulton -Id, Kiver il'late (which is in large supply) S'/iJ, Canterbury 3%d. North Island :!'/;d. The lamb market'is very dull and the demand has considerably fallen oil'. Stocks of New Zealand lamb on hand are light, and they are firmly held in a few hands. Canterbury is quoted at .V/jd, other than Canterbury sd. The beef market has collapsed. Supplies of Kiver Plate beef are heavy. >'ew Zealand hind-quarters are quoted at 3'/ 3 d, fore-quarters at 3'/»d. Butter.—The market is temporarily depressed. Large buyers '.have withdrawn from the market and prices have declined. The supply exceeds the demand. Current quotations:—Choicest Xew Zealand litis, Australian llts, Danish 12is, Siberian 110s, Argentine lMs. Cheese.—The market is quiet hut firm. Canadian makes are quoted at tils per c.vt.
Hemp.—The market is quiet, with a tendency in favour of buyers. Last week's Manila output amounted to 1 S.Dlll) bales. Cocksfoot seed.—The market is dull. Hops.—The market is linn, with an upward tendency. There is much lietter demand for best quality.
