For some time the Union Steam offices, Bank of New Zealand, and Town Hall were ia imminent danger, but, thanks to the efficiency of the new water-supply, the fire was confined to its original outbreak. The insurances so far known are £730 on the building and £SOO on the furniture, both in the Manchester office.
