PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
13y Telegraph.--Press Association. Dunedin, Tuesday. The Assembly this morning resolved to approve a lire insurance scheme to insure its own church properties. The principle of the scheme is a guarantee, no money being called from the guarantors except in the event of losses occurring as the ordinary curre'it revenue cannot meet. The committee sought power to ask for guarantees up to 10,000.
Dunedin, Last X T ight. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-day Rev. A. V. G. Chandler was received into the Church. The Augmentation Fund Committee recommended that with the object of the fund to augment th.' stipend of the more poorly-paid ministers of the northern section of the Church, the- Church aim at raising a sum as shall secure a stipend ')t ,tt225, exclusive of manse or house allowance. The report was received and tile regulations to be scut to I'resbyteries,'deacons' courts, and management committees for consideration. It was recommended that a fund be established for women workers, home and foreign, who become incapacitated, capital to be at least 411000; the proposed annuity to be £3O, with a bonus of .(1 for every year of service, the maximum annuity to be .COO. report is to be sent to Presbyteries, etc.. for consideration and to report at next Assembly.
