PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
(From Our Eahotu Correspondent.) The ordinary monthly meeting was held at liahotu on Wednesday. Present: Messrs. J. Young (chairman). C Dcegan, K. Warner, fi. Tylee, T. Harvey, and G. Jones. Loan.—The Upper Kini road loan Xo. 2. of £50(1, was confirmed. Surfacemen.—Three applications wart received for a surfaceman, but it was decided to let them stand over for a month. -5 ■ Tender,.—Two lenders were received I for work on Waiteika road. It was decided that the conditions of contract be modified and arrangements made for letting the work. The' tender of Moffitt and Sievewright was accepted for formv tion on Xgariki road at £2 15s per chain. Knoillock also tendered at £2 10s 3d. Ranger.--P. W. Rowland was appointed ranger, he being the only applicant. Tenders are to be called for the Xewall road contract of formation and metalling. The foreman was instructed to open a pit at the junction of Newall and Warea r oads. Kina Road Loan. —Mr. Alexander waited on the Board, objecting to be full rated for the above loan, as he was not getting any benefit. He would agree to half rate, or be full rated with half refunded.—lt was decided that lie -see if the settlers are agreeable for him to have a refund on his full rates.
Drain.—Mr. (J. McGregor wailed on i the Hoard, asking thorn to protect i. , drain which they had made to take , Hood water away". At present his slock ; full in the ditch. He wanted a fence ■ erected.—lt was decided that the Board > find out their position and report al next meeting. Ncwall Koad.—Kcsolvcd, that a twol'ct culvert be put in at the lower portion of the road, and application be made to the Public Trustee for half cost. (Jones—Warner.) Factory Koad. The Cape Egmont Dairy Company applied to put a gate across the road at J'ungarchii between their butler and cheese factories; only suppliers used the road, and they wanted to prevent slock roaming round the buildings. —Permission granted. Resolved, that the Board's stall work for two days to repair the Pungarehu road (upper) loading to the factory, (liarvev— Warner.) I i'unilio Koad.—AY. «. Correspondence was read from the 11c..erves Audit, including names of natives who were included in the Ngariki road loan; also cheques for .Cflj and £l3 for Public Trustee grants on lliaia mid I'uniho roads respectively. Accounts amounting to £2lO were passed for payment.
