SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS
The Taranaki School Commissioners met on Friday. Present: Mes&js. J. Wade (in the chair), F. Simpson, and H. JAuill.
The chairman reported that only one tundra had been received for the lease of subsection 3 of sction 22, block XV., Jvaupokonui —that of Mrs. Louisa Joll, who oll'ered a rental of i)s per acre per annum for a term of 19 years from October 1, 1908. He had accordingly given instructions for the preparation of the lease to Mrs Joll.—The chairman's action was confirmed.
The secretary reported that 'ho had visited Bell Block, and on behalf of the Board resumed possession of section 17, Una Village, whik had been leased to William T. Northcott, now deceased. The buildings were in a condition of decay, and might well be abolished Mr. Faull stated that Tiu liad inspected the buildings at the secretary's request, and was of opinion that they should he cleared away.—This course was agreed to. The secretary read correspondence with John Willis witli reference to payments of rent of the land which he had arranged to transfer to E. J. Currie.—Th\s secretary's reply was approved.
A letter from Mrs .Faulkner with! reference to the boundaries of her leasehold was, on the motion of Messrs. Faull and Wade, referred to the Commissioner of Crown Lands. D. Maclellan, Patea, submitted a proposal with n view to the occupation of the cottage formerly leased by Mr. llossilor.—The matter was left in the hands of the secretary, witli instructions to arrange a temporary tenancy. The treasurer reported a balance of £899 10s lid. He had re-deposited for twelve months at 3% per cent a fixed deposit of £IOOO which had matured on the fith inst. On the usual conditions, consent was given to a transfer from A. J. Malone to K .1. Hall of the lease of part section 21, block VIII., Kaupokonui S.T). Accounts amounting to .CIS 7s were passed for payment. The Board went into committee to consider matters concerning several tenants, and on resuming passifc the following resolution: "That Messrs. Malone, Anderson and Johnstone be informed that the Board is unable to alter its decision on the application of Mr. A. Locke and Mrs. llailley.''
