Indian Mutiny won by a length, lmt the owner of Lebeecio entered a protest against Mutiny for interference, and the protest committee decided to award the race to Lcbeccio and disqualify F. Raymond, the rider of Mutiny, for the rest of the season.

'I'URF TOPIC'S. (By "Moturoa.") Mr E. P. Webster, the newly-appoint-ed secretary of the Taranaki J.C., attended the \\ .. verlry meeting and might have been seen interviewing owners and generally putting in a word for the forthcoming T.J.C, Christmas meeting. Mr Webster is bent on pursuing a progressive policy and as a result of energy the nomination lists for the coming meeting should lill satisfactorily. Jlr Mcllvride, tile owner of Clonnllin, received a wire from his trainer, Mr. 11. Eva, yesterday stating that the horse had a very bad run in the New'-' 1 Zealand Cup and ivas cut about the legs, preventing liitn starting again at tile meeting. This is verv bad luck, considering how well the' horse was galloping and it is to be hoped that the trainer's assurance that the horse will be all right aj-aiu in a few (lacs will prove correct. Mr. 11. Eva leaves for New Plymouth to-day with (.'l.n. ullin and I'lilaudo.
