Reeeived 9, 10.15 p.m. Calcutta, November 9. _ Professor Burton, of Chicago University, was about to give a lecture at Overtoun Hall, Northern Calcutta,, when n, Bengali youth (afterwards giving the name of Roy Chowdhury) rushed forward and thrust a revolver within six inches of Lieut.-Governor Sir Andrew Fraser, and pulled the trigger twice, but the revolver missed fire. Ho was immediately disarmed. Meanwhile the Maliaraia of Burdwan had stepped forward, shielding Sir Andrew Fraser. This, is the fourth attempt on his life. The newspaper "Englishman considers that the anarchist propaganda is deeper and wider than anybody supposed.
