RAILWAY ACCIDENT at I FORD. Stratford, Last Night. John C'lcaver, aged 51, was attempting to board a train in motion when he dipped and was dragged some distance, being crushed between the platform and the carriage. BURNED TO DEATH, Invereargill, Last Night. Charles Deans, an old-age pensioner, who lived alone in a house at East Winton, was burned to death on Saturday night or tSunday; morning. Early on Sunday morning it was noticed that Deans' house was a smoking ruin. The body was found .among the debris. Deans, who leaves 110 family, was husband of tile notorious baby-farmer, Minnie Deans, who was hanged years ago.

FALL FROM A TRAP. Christcliureh, Last Night. A man named James J. Stirling, a farmer at Kaikoura, fell out of his trap last night while driving along Hundale road, and was dragged for half a mile.

A 12-year-old son of Mr. Alex. Mcintosh 1 , of Te Henui, almost lost th.' sight 01 his eyes last week. He was holding a big cracker i.ll his hand that he though was defective. He set fire to tile fuse and the cracker burst in his face, injuring the bov's face and almost blinding him. But for Dr. Walker's skill he may have lost his eyesight.
