Uf the remarkable child violinist, tUo reports c! ivliom indicate a rare treat here on Wednesday evening that should not be missed, the Alauawatu Ximos says:—"Haydn Deck is a sturdy curlyheaded youngster who lias been gifted Willi that most capricious of all gifts of the gods, musical genius. ... lie captivated his audience before he had commenced to wield the bow, and after they had heard him play the dominant feeling was astonishment. , . . j-|i 5 extraordinary skill and power over liis instrument strikes home first, and the more one listens, the more one becomes •impressed." The Jlanawatu Kvenhg Standard characterises it as "the performance of a genius," and says "he received a succession of ovations from a a astonished and delighted assemblage,'' that "his mastery is astounding," and that the boy who showed "astounding feeling and power" gave "a display that was unique in the history of music in this town." The Waiiga'nui Chronicle says little Haydn Heel; is ■gifted with a memory which is as phenomenal as it is unfailing,'' and that his most remarkable performance for which he is always recalled again and again. "J)e lleriot's 7th Concerts." is "a work which few violinist except those who'are experienced artists: would care to undertake." It further says that "it is no exaggeration to say that Master Haydn Beck astounded the audience which assembled at the Opera House last evening."
