Eeccivcd 0, 9.53 p.m. Melbourne, November 0 la the Senate,, ballotting for the capital site was conducted amidst a good deal of excitement, and resulted in the choice of the Yass-Canbcrra site. The first ballot was a tic, Vass ami Tunuit each securing 18. This was the outcome of some secret engineering by the supporters of the Dalgcty site. Knowing that a certain Yictorhva- intended to vote for Tumut with the idea of afterwards transferring his vote to Yass, they combined to vole for Tumut, so as to produce a tie.
When tire tie was announced, • t'ne Dalgcty men claimed the whole question was ended, but the president insisted that each of the six sites nominated must be ballotted for. The final ballot resulted-Yass-Canberra 10, Tumut 17.
