Me*ssrs, L. A. Nolan & Co. report: We held our monthly hide sale in our Brougham Street store oa October 28th. We submitted out usual catalogue to a full complement of .buyers. Competition for all (rood-conditioned and cleaned lines was keen, and prices generally were satisfactory. IHdes sold well at about late rates, heavy cow aiul ox hides being most keenly competed for, and showing an advance. Calfskins held at about last month's rates for class entered. Webster Bros, report for the week as follows: Poultry—On Saturday last we had a very large entry and top prices were realised as follows:—Hens 2s Id to 2s' 7d,. roosters Is 8d to, 2s (id. A large entry of ducks sold from 2s -id to 2s Od; geese 2s 9d; old hens Is Sd. Start—Furniture and sundries sold at fair auction rates. Fruit—During the week we sold fair consignments,, which we quote:—Californian apples 15s to His,, lemons 4s to 4s (id, oranges (Sydney) in had ordftr. 5s li(l. Vegetables—Urcdn peas from Xelson we quitted at Is per peek. Cabbages sold at 4s per sack. Clearing sales—On Tuesday at Oakura we sold Mr, G. Richardson's dairy. The demand for good cows is still keen. The cows were not in the best condition. Prices were satisfactory and ranged up to £7. A half-draught colt reached £l7 10s; bulls .1-4 5s to.Oi Ills, plough £3 125,, sow and litter £4 12s (id, sow £.' l (is, calves 4s. At Koru we disposed of Mr. W. A. Saxton's dairy. Again young dairy cows were ill demand and sold up to £8 17s (id, yearling heifers from 33s (id to 375. bulls ,t"t 12s fid to £4 12s (id, sows 25s to 20s, calves 3s; cart £6 10s.
