THE NO-LICENSE QUESTION.
To the Editor. Shy-Bofuiv taking so high-sounding a nom-de-plumc, your correspondent "Absolute l-'acts" should make sure of his facts. i„ to-day', letter he is wroii". first, llr. Palmer's letter was written before Hie Clni-ti-liurch Diocesan Svnod met. and therefore it is evident to anyone that the speeches he commended were not delivered to that assembly; nor could his postscript refer to tin; resolutions of thai body. The speeches of Bishop Julius and 'of the ltev. E. Whitehouse were delivered on 4th September, some weeks before the Christclmrch Synod met; ami the postscript referred to the resolution „f the Auckland Dinccan Svnod. which was: "Thai in view „f Ihe widespread evils resulting tnini the present licensing svstem. and also in view of the benefits accruing to the people wherever Xo-License i" honestly enforced, this .Synod earnestly recommends all churchmen and churcliwonien in this diocese to support Xol.icense at the forthcoming poll.' 1 Taranaki is a part of the Auckland diocese. .Many of your readers received copies of the speeches and Mr. Palmer's letter, , and 1 would ask them to look over them again ami see if I am correct; then in future to receive "Absolute Facts'" statements at what they are evidently worth, it is just, on a par with the ■ liipior advertisement which so grossly misrepresents that noble philanthropist, i General Booth. Headers, beware! -- 1 "'»• etc., O.H.M.*
