The Conservatives and t'nionists scored a great victory in the municipal election-, in couiiectioj with the English and Welsh boroughs. They won seven seals at Liverpool and Manchester, live at Nottingham, Carlisle and Blackburn, and lour in Wigan, Leeds and lluddersfield, chiefly at the expense of the Liberals. I'p to the present the Conserve Uvcs and .Moderates have gained 127 seats; the Liberals and Progressives 32; J/tibor 11; Socialists 12; and Independent* 14. The Liberal gains were made in Hudderslleld, Plymouth, Koighley, ilaocleafield and Accriugton. The women candidates met with little success.
